This week in our homeschool Pre-K/ Preschool:
Jasmine, who btw will be 3 YEARS OLD this coming Tuesday, matched her colors with this great color puzzle from Carisa at 1+1+1 =1. (she has 2 printable puzzles to choose from)
We worked on Listening skills and following directions with these mats I downloaded from A Mommy's Adventures. We used 4 colors of mega blocks but you can use any kind of manipulative you have.
How we used them:
- Pick up the red block and place it in the circle
- Pick up the green block and place it under the square
- Pick up the yellow and green blocks and place them in the square
- Pick up the blue block and place it on the left side of the square
- Pick up the red block and place it on the bottom left corner of the mat
- Pick up the green block and place it between the square and the heart
I wrote the letters of the alphabet on our chalkboard and had Jada trace the letters with a paintbrush and water.
For Jasmine, I put the chalk in her hand and helped her draw shapes with the chalk and then she traced them with the paintbrush.
Jasmine tried making confetti with my hole punch, but her little muscles weren't quite strong enough, she could do it with me holding the paper and her using both hands.
Sorting socks, this is usually their chore when I do laundry, but in the summer they don't wear any to sort....so I thought I would get them ready since the weather is quickly getting cooler. They think it's fun.....especially Jasmine, she LOVES to sort.
Our new smartmat purchased for $1 at target. It is a 2 sided dry-erase mat. This side is the beginning sounds. The other side is for practice printing the alphabet.
This one isn't the prettiest necklace I've seen, but it served its purpose, to work those little hand muscles. This is a pipe cleaner beaded with large elbow macaroni. This is not as easy as normal beading you have to push and pull. Jada actually ended up coloring hers with markers afterward. You could probably use tempora paint also.
I gave Jasmine beads because she was having a hard time getting the macaroni on only to come back later and see she was persistent and got some of the macaroni on.
Just for cuteness I thought I would add a pic of my 16 week old little lady, Jordan. If you are wondering what she is sitting in...it's 2 boppy pillows. She sat there for quite a while playing with toys and looking around. As you can see she is drooling all over the place, like a Saint Bernard.....She is getting ready to cut her FIRST TOOTH.
Jasmine loves her do-a-dot markers!!
We learned about taste from our Flip-Flap Body Book This is a really great book that explains what happens to the food that you swallow, how a baby grows in its mother and covers all the senses. After the lesson we did our own little taste test experiment.
I blindfolded the girls and had them taste different foods. I asked how does it taste is it sweet, sour, salty or bitter. They REALLY enjoyed this one!
Next I had them make their own PB&J's.....again a hit with the little ladies!
We finished our week with an imagination station modern art project! Just give em' a bunch of stuff and let them create!
Jada has also been working through her Hooked on Phonics. I have really been pleased with this material so far. She read her first story and was so proud of herself....momma was pretty proud too! The story consisted of all the 'at' words.
